I bought these tools new, so no worry there. They want to have proof of purchase now at some locations. But HF has given me a hassle to warranty out tools a few times now. I hate to be without that tool, but in my case I always have back ups. Since covid guidelines are in place, I have a hard time bringing all my kids to warranty out a tool. Also I find myself wanting to buy hand tools from brands like DeWalt, Tekton, etc that will ship you a tool you need warrantied out. Better than the Chinese sears craftsman by a mile. And the craftsman that Stanley now sells at lowes. But home depot sells other brands as well.

Although the hand tools are lower quality than they used to be at HF, they were still better than the Husky house brand from Home Depot. The more and more I find myself going to home depot vs HF. I went to Home Depot and they had all kinds of good ones. I used to get some from Walmart, but they only had the kind that snag and rip your belt loop. Literally just a few times of opening and closing it and the spring broke. I tested 3 in the store and they all broke. Well the ones they had on the shelf were like 89 cents or so. Then went in Harbor freight looking for a carabiner for my keys. The new wrenches in that set for example, not nearly as well finished as the old ones and only have the size on the head of the wrench. They improved the box but then cut corners on the tools. They made some improvements, but also cut corners in places that were perfect already to meet the same price point. The tool sets, although they look the same as old sets I have already purchased. I looked at a few things around HF and was disappointed. I am having the same exact issues lately. Am I alone in feeling this way or does anyone else feel the same or have similar experiences. I feel more like I'm watching an old friend slowly change into someone I don't enjoy being around. I'm not saying all this as a harbor freight hater, I've been a long time fan of harbor freight. HF is trying to compete with Home Depot but in the end, at least in my case, are just pushing me towards Home Depot. Then there's HF offering better tools to compete with the other stores, which is fine until you compare them and the brands like hercules and bauer just aren't as good as milwaukee and Ryobi yet almost always cost more. I can also order what they don't have in the app and have it delivered to the store or to my house and it doesn't take 6 months. On the odd chance that Home Depot doesn't have what I need they can usually give me more of a answer than check back Tuesday for the mythical truck. Since HF never has what I need I end up just going to Home Depot most of the time. I know HF is trying to compete with the big boys like Home depot and Lowe's but it's not really a competition. I've literally had to move things around just to get to what I need. They just keep adding more and more stuff so everything is just piled on top of each other. It's so packed with items and feels so cramped. Im not typically claustrophobic but damn I feel it when I go in there now. I'm hoping HF doesn't go the way of sears. Whenever I got one in the mail I felt like a kid around Christmas time going through the sears catalog looking at all the toys.

I also feel like it was a mistake doing away with the free catalog. These are just a few examples of times that they never have what I need in stock. The truck doesn't exist, sum bitch ain't ever coming. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I now want to get the green tool cart, none in stock check back tuesday for the truck. Same story, never in stock check back Tuesday for the truck. I ended up going to Home Depot and building my own. For several weeks they didn't have any in stock and the best they could tell me is they get the truck in on Tuesday so check back then.

I got a gift card for Christmas and I needed a new workbench so I wanted to pick one up. The other thing that has been frustrating is almost every time I've gone lately they never have what I need in stock. Before I go I look up to see if they have a coupon for what I need and most of the time they don't. And if the rumors are true they may be doing away with all coupons, which at this point wouldn't surprise me. Lately though I noticed I might drop in once a month or every other month and I've been disappointed/frustrated every time.įirst off the free coupons are gone and if the rumors are true they aren't coming back. I had an addiction and spent many paychecks there. I use to go to harbor freight at least once a week.
